故事發(fā)生在英國維多利亞女王（杰西·巴克利 Jessie Buckley 飾）統(tǒng)治時(shí)期，多力特（小羅伯特·唐尼 Robert Downey Jr. 飾）擁有著能夠和動(dòng)物交談的特殊能力，和妻子一起在老家經(jīng)營著一家動(dòng)物醫(yī)院?！ ∫粓鲆馔鈯Z走了多力特妻子的生命，這巨大的打擊讓多力特封閉起了心門，拒絕和任何人類接觸。一天，一個(gè)名叫湯姆（哈里·科萊特 Harry Collett 飾）的男孩闖入了多力特的家，帶來了一只受傷的松鼠，希望多力特能夠救它。與此同時(shí)，維多利亞女王患上了一種怪病，于是派出了侍女蘿絲（卡梅爾·拉尼亞多 Carmel Laniado 飾）去拜訪多力特，請(qǐng)他出山。多力特所擁有的動(dòng)物莊園歸屬于女王的名下，如果女王去世了，那么多力特將失去他和動(dòng)物們這唯一的樂園。
