影片改編自意大利作家和記者多梅尼科雷亞（Domenico Rea；1921年9月8日~1994年1月26日）完成于1992年的同名小說(shuō)。 第二次世界大戰(zhàn)期間的1943年。意大利南方坎帕尼亞丘陵地區(qū)的薩勒諾一個(gè)叫作諾菲的村莊。15歲的米露扎Miluzza（盧恰;卡拉飾）是個(gè)過(guò)著平靜生活的天真純潔的少女，但對(duì)一切都很好奇。 米露扎的母親農(nóng)齊婭塔Nunziata（斯泰芬妮婭 桑德雷利飾）是個(gè)遠(yuǎn)近聞名的蕩婦，懦弱的裁縫父親焦阿基諾Gioacchino（恩尼奧 科爾托蒂飾）對(duì)意大利士官（洛倫佐 ;克雷斯皮飾）常來(lái)家中之事僅僅只有忍氣吞聲的一些沒(méi)有效果的表情抗議。家中只有爺爺拉費(fèi)萊 Rafele（里諾 馬爾切利飾）最疼愛(ài)她。

But Soriya’s waking hours in the apartment and its surroundings are punctuated by terrifying, bloody visions, almost as though she were a conduit for horrors of the past wanting to seep into the present.　　Inrasothythep Neth and Sokyou Chea’s blood-chilling psychological horror explores a personal and political past through the present, transforming a characterful space into an insidious environment. Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.
