在一個(gè)平凡的小鎮(zhèn)，在酒店底層工作的單身媽媽植村洋子（夏川結(jié)衣飾）獨(dú)自撫養(yǎng)著四個(gè)兒女：桃子、光生、美緒和花菜（蘆田愛菜飾）。最小的花菜頑皮可愛，是家中的開心果，不過她也常常覺得自己不受重視，受到委屈后便跑到隔壁的外公（小林稔侍飾）、外婆（巖下志麻飾）家里哭鼻子。不久，慈祥的外公去世，外婆的臉上時(shí)時(shí)掛著落寞的神情?；ú税岬礁舯诰幼?，祖孫倆相依相守，從彼此的身上得到了幸福與快樂。時(shí)間倏忽而去，轉(zhuǎn)眼花菜（北乃きい飾）長大，小小的房子再也無法圈住她的腳步，而外婆則一如既往鼓勵(lì)著她持續(xù)前行本片根據(jù)植村花菜的同名原著改編。
