芭芭拉•戴利•貝蘭克（朱麗安•摩爾 飾）美艷動(dòng)人，她的丈夫布魯克林（史蒂芬·迪蘭 飾）是一名探險(xiǎn)家。雖然丈夫腰纏萬貫，讓芭芭拉的生活富足，但她的生活并沒有想象中幸福，因?yàn)檎煞虻教幪诫U(xiǎn)的關(guān)系，她常常得不到丈夫的陪伴，因而變得讓人感覺十分水性楊花。兒子托尼（艾迪•雷德梅納 飾）成為了她的一切，并常常牽制兒子做事。 芭芭拉知道托尼是名同性戀，并極力撮合他與西班牙女友的愛情，可是托尼最后并沒有跟那名女孩在一起。布魯克林卻跟兒子的女友私奔了，這樣令芭芭拉感到十分傷心。托尼也十分不舍得父親的離開，他也目睹了母親自父親離開后的痛苦。之后他們四處為家，一直患病的芭芭拉還曾自殺過。 芭芭拉多年來一直沒有放棄要讓兒子變回異性戀，她竟然要與兒子發(fā)生關(guān)系，以讓兒子嘗試性愛的味道。終于，托尼再也無法忍受母親了，一把尖刀刺向了芭芭拉……
