本片圍繞著四個角色進行。晚上離開妻兒出門的盧悉奧(Luisinho)和剛結(jié)束一段感情生活的納爾遜(Nelson)駕駛著汽車四處尋樂,以此打發(fā)晚上的空虛和無聊。幾經(jīng)周折之后他們找了兩名三陪女子回到房間。整個夜晚四個人之間的關(guān)系不斷發(fā)生微妙變化。該片前75分鐘全部為夜景,配以略帶詭異感覺的鋼琴曲,整部作品偏現(xiàn)代。 沃爾特·雨果·克霍里(Walter Hugo Khouri)(1929.10.21-2003.6.27)號稱是巴西電影界的伯格曼，《空洞的夜》（1964）《燃燒的軀體》（1966）和《好色之徒》（1968）是他的人性三部曲，在他的影片中充滿著存在主義的疑問、角色復雜內(nèi)心的獨白和現(xiàn)代主義的電影語言。本片是向安東尼奧尼《蝕》的致敬之作，入圍了1965年法國戛納電影節(jié)，是一部精致的巴西新浪潮藝術(shù)電影。
